"... this vast globe itself, yea,
and what it contains will be dissolved, as the scene
hours without substance vanished without a trace
. We are such stuff
of which dreams are made on and our little life is rounded with a sleep
.
W. Shakespeare
"The day I die a gentle breeze
erase our footprints from the sand . When the wind will drop
eternity
who will say that once walked here, at the dawn of time? "

"SETTING UP" is a workshop on the process of staging a show.
A laboratory for advanced actors, for those who have completed a training course at least three years.
A workshop to be held in Daedalus, from February 2011.
NOTES ON LABORATORY
Set up is, in its origin, a word used by sailors.
Set up a ship to have the load balanced. Put in place before leaving.
put on a show is to prepare a ship for a trip.
My experience led me to thinking (and practicing) the work of staging as a process, an intense search path shared between people.
I know that if you work seriously, the journey that leads to a performance of "finished" can be very long, perhaps that is why often the "laboratories of production" leading to reap excellent props that "for lack of time" remain rough, with a high degree of approximation.
This workshop will focus on just one piece of work that often, especially in training, it barely touches.
In the long process of creation, "set up" is the moment when history must find its form. It is time that comprise the language of a show, where every aspect (dramatic structure, choices related to space, the sound environment, objects, acting, etc.) flows into a coherent whole expression. It is the process of working through which are fixed - perhaps forever - the "rules of generations" of the living world that it is a story told on stage.
This will be the heart of the laboratory.
will be a training workshop: a research trip, first of all, if it is possible to find opportunities to learn, clarify or inspire their work.
addition and along with this, the path will arrive at the realization of a theatrical performance.
Why all this is possible within a reasonable time the laboratory will have a base of working materials I have proposed "a priori": a narrative plot basic ideas regarding possible choices of the language, references and "sources" to turn in research. We will have in practice already prepared and fertile land, avoiding long periods apart. Like a game, there will be a context, rules, constraints that allow great freedom of movement. And many questions.
materials that you have derived from the experience gained last season with a group of students of Daedalus, the preparation of the test "With closed eyes" . Despite the incompleteness of the work, a typical study, the raw material still proved to be so full of ideas to convince me (along with - it must be said - to the demands of some students tough) to make it the basis for the lab.
respect to the contents, only two coordinates.
Anyone interested will have the opportunity to speak at length with me the spirit of the work.
"With closed eyes" is the result of tutorial on "The Tempest" Shakespeare , where students have unlimited freedom of movement, the ability to completely move away from a literal interpretation. And so it was in the end. No islands, no kings, no magic.
The crew of a film, lost in the heart of the most inaccessible Kalahari Desert.
food and water for a few days.
around, a wild, live a life unknowable.
The desert is a mirror in which to look. Not always what you see is reassuring.
Kalahari, which "Kgalagadi", the great thirst ...
The Storm is far away, yet I can not help but think of the survivors wandering on the island of Prospero as the ancestors.
So it will be for the lab.
will not work on Storm. The Tempest will be one of its underground sources.
The desert is the Earth, will be the main character of the story. It will be history.
